Licence agreement
DRAFT for the author's approval, 4 October 2026
This agreement is between you and Anindya Banerjee (the author) for the computer program Stability Solver Animated (the program), the companion software of the book Ship Stability: Theory and Practice. The licence key is free with the book; nothing is sold on this site and there is therefore nothing to refund.
1. What you may do
With a valid licence key you may install and use the program on any number of computers that you yourself own or control, for your own study, teaching or professional reference. A key is issued to one named person who holds the book, and may not be given, lent, sold or published to anyone else.
2. What you may not do
You may not copy the program for others, remove or alter its licence check, reverse engineer it except where the law allows, or use it to provide a service to third parties without the author's written agreement.
3. Ownership
The program, its text, animations, data and design remain the author's property. The MV Ninja particulars shipped with the program are an invented teaching ship.
4. Updates and support
The author may release corrected versions and may stop doing so at any time. Support is by email to info@anindyabanerjee.co.uk and is given as time allows.
5. What the program is, and is not
The program is a study aid. It is not a substitute for the ship's approved stability information, for the judgement of the officer in charge, or for the requirements of the flag State and the classification society. The author accepts no responsibility for any decision taken on the strength of its results. The program is supplied as it is, with no warranty that it is free of error, except where the law gives you rights that cannot be excluded.
6. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, the author's total liability under this agreement is limited to nothing, the key having been supplied free of charge. Nothing in this agreement limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under the law of England and Wales.
7. Ending the licence
The licence ends if you break its terms. The author may also revoke a key that was obtained by deceit or that has been published.
8. Law
This agreement is governed by the law of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live.
