Privacy notice
DRAFT for the author's approval, 4 October 2026
This notice says what this licence service stores about you, why, and for how long. The data controller is Anindya Banerjee, info@anindyabanerjee.co.uk.
What is stored and why
| Data | Why | Kept | Lawful basis (UK GDPR Art. 6) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your name and email address | They are written into your licence key, which the program shows as "Licensed to"; the key is emailed to the address; and the author can send the key again if you lose it. | For as long as the program is supported, then deleted. | Performance of a contract (the licence), Art. 6(1)(b). |
| The key issued, the date and the number of the book question answered | To send the key again, and to see that keys are not being obtained unfairly. | As above. | Art. 6(1)(b) and legitimate interests, Art. 6(1)(f). |
| A salted hash of your email address and of your internet address for each try at the redeem page | Rate limiting: a few tries per hour per address. | Deleted after 24 hours. The internet address itself is never stored. | Legitimate interests, Art. 6(1)(f). |
What is not stored
Your answer to the question is checked and not kept. No payments are taken here, so no card or bank details. No passwords, no account, no tracking cookies, no analytics. The program itself sends nothing to the internet; it checks the key on your own computer.
Who else sees it
Resend (sending the key email, servers in the EU) and Fly.io (hosting, London region), each acting on the author's instructions. Nothing is sold or shared for marketing.
Your rights
You may ask for a copy of what is held about you, for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to its use, by writing to info@anindyabanerjee.co.uk. Deleting your record does not stop a key already issued from working. You may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, ico.org.uk.
